New Delhi, December 27: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday dismissed a report which claimed the party is likely to amend its constitution to clear decks for his third consecutive term as the party chief.

Calling the report useless and fictitious, Arvind Kejriwal said media should do stories on key issues such as Justice Loya's death and Rafale deal.

"I wish u guys cud do stories of huge public importance like Justice Loya’s murder, Rafael deal, Sahara Birla diaries, Bansal suicide etc than wasting precious airtime on such useless and fictitious stories (sic)," Kejriwal tweeted.

"No member will hold the same post as an office bearer for more than two consecutive terms of three years each," says the constitution of AAP.

This stops Kejriwal from continuing as the party chief for a third consecutive term. The national council is likely to alter this part of the constitution, the report had said. The strategy for Lok Sabha elections 2019 is likely to be discussed at the meeting.

Kejriwal was elected as the national convener of AAP for the second time in April 2016 for a period of three years.

The meeting of the national council was supposed to be held in April 2019, however, sources in AAP said it would be impossible to meet in April as workers would be busy campaigning for the general elections.

On Friday, the national executive of AAP is expected to meet to finalise the agenda for the Saturday's meeting.
