The idea of crowd- funding and jansampark was charted out in the brainstorming session by congress leaders during marathon meeting that were held on Tursday. Party leaders and workers will cover over 10 lakh booths in the 40 day- long campaign likely to begain from September 10.

On numerous occasions, party leaders have stated that the congress is facing cash crunch. Recently, senior congress leader Ahmed Patel took over the charge as treasurer of the party. Patel met general secretaries, in-charges, Pradesh congress committee presidents and state treasurers to discuss the financial situation of the party.

BOOTH- LEVEL OUTREACH

Sources said that the formula to raise fund at national level is inspired by Rajasthan congress’s drive “Mera vooth, Mrea Gaurav.”- a massive booth-level outreach programe rolled out by Sachin pilot.

“Durring this massive outreach campaign we will tell people about what we plan to do foe their development; what Modi government has failed to do in last 4 years and we will also raise funds for the party through booth level workers, “west Bengal congress leaders told to The Nationalist.

Congress has asked its leaders to adopt austerity measures which also involves cutting down expenditures on election campaigns. The Party feels that it need to give more preference to door to door campaign and nukkar sabhas. MPs MLAs, general secretaries and secretaries have been asked to bear the cost of their travels. Frontal organisation chiefs will also have to submit a report on cost- cutting.
