Nitish kumar’s Janta Dal {U} and the BJP will fight on an equal number of seats in Bihar for the Lok Sabha Election next year. In the closed-door meeting held on Friday between BJP president Amit shah and his JD{U} counterparts Nitish Kumar, the two sides sealed the Bihar’s pact for 2019 Lok sabha elections.

Two smaller allies- Ram vilas Paswan’s LJP and Upendra Kushwaha’s RLSP- may have to contend with fewer number of seats to contest as compared to 2014. “When a new partner joins, you have to sacrifies—There will be reduction in seats for everyone.” Shah said, and underscored that there was consensus among the four NDA parties in Bihar on this principle.

Bihar sends 40 members to the Lok Sabha that will need to be split between the four partner of the NDA for next year’s general elections. Reiterating faith in the leadership of Nitish Kumar in Bihar, shah said the NDA will clock its best ever performance in the state in the upcoming polls. “People of Bihar have supported Narendra Modi ji at the centre, and in the state they firmly behind Nitish Kumar,” he said.

Nitish, while speaking to reporters, said the distribution of seats would not be a concern among the allies once the seat- sharing pact is officially released. “ In two- three days, we will let you know which party has been allotted how many seats,” the Bihar CM said.

Soon ahter Amit Shah and Nitish kumar held their press conference, upendra Kushwaha, who is a minister at the centre, met Tejashwin Yadav.

Before his return to the NDA last year, Nitish Kumar experimented with a Grant Alliance for the 2015 assembly elections in Bihar, joining hands with arch rival Lalu Yadav and congress. Together they stormed to power, winning 178 of the state’s 243 assembly seats.
