Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP and Niti Aayog over the falling price of rupee as compared to the dollar.

In an editorial in the party's mouthpiece Saamana, the Shiv Sena president strongly defended former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan. Uddhav termed the claims of India being sixth strongest economy laughable.

In the strongly worded editorial, Uddhav said that the country was moving towards becoming a banana republic.

"On Monday evening when the rupee closed at 71.21, PM Modi was delivering a speech on how Congress was responsible for the debacle of the economy. But did he forget that he is in power for last four years?" said Uddhav.

Uddhav also expressed fear that the rupee may soon cross hundred mark. "While the rupee is on a deathbed, the claims that we are the sixth largest and strongest economy are laughable! What steps has the government taken to stop the fall? The answer is nothing!" he said.

NITI AAYOG INDULGING IN SYCOPHANCY

Coming down heavily on the Niti Aayog he said, "The Niti Aayog indulged in sycophancy by blaming former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan for the condition of economy. The Niti Aayog says that the decisions taken by Rajan were responsible for the downfall of economy, but the value of rupee dipped faster after Rajan's exit."

If Raghuram Rajan was wrong why are we calling him back for advice? "Uddhav told reporters while defending his stand on the former RBI governor.

A GRIM PICTURE

"Prices of petrol and diesel have hit through the roof. Petrol too will cross a century soon. Troops of unemployed youth will take to streets to create chaos. Farmers are not happy, food, cooling gas, CNG have become costlier and production has gone down. New businesses are not in a mood to invest. There is no creation of jobs. This picture is disturbing and we are moving towards becoming a Banana republic," Uddhav said.

All these are not signs of the world's sixth strongest economy. Blaming the Congress or Raghuram Rajan for falling economy is frivolousness!! Tell us what have you done
