After the Bharatiya Janata Party suffered defeat in bypoll elections held at Gorakhpur, Phoolpur and Kairana this year, it has become clear to the party that they need to amass support in the state.

In order to repeat the massive success the party had in UP in the 2014 elections, BJP chief Amit Shah has given the Tea-20 formula to party members.

The state unit of the party held a two-day executive meeting in Meerut from August 11 to chalk out a plan for the 2019 general election. Shah was present at the closing ceremony of the meeting.

Shah advised MPs and MLAs to visit each village in their respective constituencies and have chai pe charcha, at least 20 homes to spread information on the work done by the Modi government.

He also stressed the need to strengthen support at the grassroots level in a closed-door meeting with MPs and MLAs from the state.

Detailing BJP's action plan for 2019, Shah asked party workers to focus on the achievements of the government and not its shortcomings. He has also advised members to refrain from making controversial statements in the race up to the 2019 elections.

He assured party workers that the Opposition's proposed grand alliance will not be able to stop BJP and the party will secure 73 plus seats in UP.

The party intends to focus on Dalit and OBC voters in UP. Shah said that the party will work to remove caste discrimination if it comes to power.

Broaching the issue of the National Register of Citizens, Shah also said "We will not allow Bangladeshi intruders to stay in the country. But we will give full respect to Hindu refugees. They need not be afraid."

It remains to be seen if this strategy will make the BJP everyone's cup of tea or not.
